I stood before my window. The early spring sunrise was blindingly bright.
I listened to the sounds of the morning. Only two were prominent, the whir of the freezer motor behind me and the constant rhythm of the living room clock.
I considered the human experience and I thought about the impact we have had on God’s serene creation. From the constant noise of machines to the monotonous clicks of time being measured away, we have truly filled His world with distractions.
I listened harder. Then I heard it. Buried deep beneath the layers of man-made sounds, a songbird called to his mate.
God is still here. The muffled sounds of serenity can still be heard!
“How long?” I asked the horizon. “How long until all things are made new?”
Devotional
I looked out the window again. “Come, Lord Jesus. Please come today!”
Isaiah 26:8-9 (NIV)
“Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts. My soul yearns for you in the night; in the morning my spirit longs for you.”
